Tan Care
Preparation, Do's and Don'ts
Prep & exfoliation are key to a flawless spray tan. Use an exfoliating mitt or glove 24 hours prior to your appointment. 24-48 hours before your spray tan, all beauty appointments must be done (facial, lashes, waxing/shaving, and mani/pedis). Drink water and moisturize daily. Moisturize 1-2 times a day, skipping the day of your appointment.
Day of appointment
Shower 3-4 hours prior to your appointment. No lotions, oils, makeup, perfumes, or deodorant. Wear loose dark clothing, no yoga pants. A dark-colored bathing suit or undergarments. No touching or skin-to-skin contact for 24 hours; this can transfer the bronzer. Express spray tan rinse in 1-4 hours, warm water rinse, no soap. Full development after 24 hours. Do not get wet, swim, workout, or shave for 24 hours. A travel fee will be determined by location for the duration of your tan.
For the duration of your tan
Make sure to pat dry after you get out of the shower. Stay away from products that are highly fragrant, contain alcohol or mineral oil, loofahs, washcloths, Dove soap, and lotion-based body washes; these can all compromise the tan. Shave with a fresh razor and hair conditioner; shaving creams are high in alcohol.
Spray tans, on average, can last 5-7 days, with some lasting 10-14 days. Times vary due to preparation, aftercare commitment, and personal hygiene and/or if you work out. Have you recently been to the beach or outside and got sunburnt? Just because the redness is gone doesn't mean you should book an appointment. Make sure you book your spray tan well after the peeling is done (4+ weeks after). If you're still peeling and you get a spray tan, your tan will peel along with your sunburn. Make sure you stay hydrated, drink plenty of water, and moisturize twice a day.
